We need not promote a dummy product. A new blog need not be promoted. New bloggers should always concentrate on their posts but not on traffic stats or RSS subscribers. You need not fill all the things from the beginning itself. If there are enough posts with enough sense then people will surely subscribe your feed and you will get a multiplying traffic. There is no logic in promoting a blog with 2 or 10 posts. Promoting here I mean-using PPC,making guest posts, thinking of other ways to increase your RSS count etc.
Making a guest post at the very beginning is like a brain drain because there will be minimum stuff in a new blog. So newbies( like me) should just think of writing posts regularly, maintaining good relationships with fellow bloggers by responding to their posts and nothing else. There is very limited work at the beginning, you need not worry much.

I agree with this. Daily updates with unique content is all that a new blogger needs. But if there’s free time he/she should spend that into marketing the blog. The earlier you get started with marketing the better.
