Why do most of the blogs fail to make money?

By Mani | Apr 19, 2008

1. Their Niche selection is bad

One thing we has to know here i.e., there is nothing useless for blog…We are not forced to blog on a particular niche. The funda is we can write something on the things which we know better. Selecting the niche of blog is very important. First think on what you know better so there will be no shits tomorrow.

2. They are not serious about their blog

Most of the newbies forget that they are here for business. They don’t take it seriously. The reason for this is domains and hosing is very cheap (like chewing gum) :). Investment makes the business serious. But in blogging you can start without investing. Probably this is the reason why most of the blogs fail.

3. Only Money oriented blogging.

If you do anything only for money..There are many chances to fail. For example Lets think Google adsense pays more for forex content..But only some can write professionally on forex, because its a subject. If you decide your niche thinking on dollars, then no one can help you out

4. Updating Frequently

There are many blogs not being updated from many months. Blogs are meant for updating frequently so they can give out some current affairs going out there.

Many newbies generally post 5 posts a day for the first 5 days and they will not post for a month… This makes your visitors think that your blog is dead…And they will not visit you blog even by mistake. .So make 1 post a day or 1 post an alternate day or 1 post for every week. Make your blog regular.

5. Dummy posts

Making a dummy post is useless. We should not think our visitors are brainless.

Make something useful. A blogger should try to give latest news about the niche he has selected (or even u can write the old things in a latest way)

Number 3 is the one I see most often on the internet. A blog will be started for the sole purpose of earning money, thinking that this is something easy to do.

    My Thoughts:

    1) I think niches are subjective and can sometimes be quite fickle. A niche that’s hot today might not be so hot tomorrow. Also, I don’t think you necessarily have to stick to what you know or enjoy (though they can both help greatly). Experimentation is great & the internet is a great medium for that, so if you pick a niche and you decide you don’t want to continue with it, learn the lesson and move on.

    2) You can be serious about your blog AND still not make money!

    3) Money is not the enemy. Wanting to do something only for money isn’t necessarily a bad thing either ‘cos it can affect other parts of your life positively. Being a complete asshole is a lot more problematic whether yoor sole focus is money or not (and I’ve met one or two a$$holes).

    4) I’ve seen a mix of blogs, and from my observations, some blog infrequently/inconsistently and still get a shit-load of visitors/comments when they finally post up. The pull, I think, must therefore be in the power of their content.

    5) I agree.

    Thanks for prompting the discussion.
